What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient method of rebalancing meridians within the body. It is believed that the energy flow ‘Qi’ runs freely throughout meridians in our bodies. If this flow of Qi becomes unbalanced or blocked this can result in illness or pain.
Acupuncture is thought to stimulate the body’s natural response to heal and repair. Restoring physical emotional and mental wellbeing. Therefore, it is beneficial for a wide range of physical and emotional unbalances. Acupuncture works on restoring the whole body back to equilibrium.
Using a comprehensive diagnosis system including medical history and an examination of your tongue and pulse we can diagnose where the issue lies and form your unique treatment plan. Fine, sterile needles are then inserted in specific areas to encourage the free flow of Qi and restore balance back to the body.
How much will it cost?
Your first consultation and treatment will cost £45 and will take 60 minutes.
Follow up appointments will cost £39 and will last between 45-60 minutes.
Ideally you will need a course of treatments initially which will then lead to maintenance treatments until required. Further information will be given upon your initial contact with Remedy Acupuncture, as this can be different for all conditions.
There is no further charge for infra red therapy, moxibustion, cupping or ear seeds within an acupuncture treatment if these are required.
FAQs
Does it hurt?
The acupuncture needles are very fine and not like needles which are used for injections or drawing blood. Therefore generally no discomfort at all. You may just experience a slight prick in certain areas but very brief and mild. I am very gentle!
What do I wear?
You can come dressed as normal, sometimes it is easier to come in loose clothing to access the points. I leave the room to allow you to undress and there are towels provided to cover yourself throughout the session.
How many sessions will I need?
Difficult to say as it is dependant on how people respond to treatment and the conditions that we are treating. So a general rule is you would attend weekly for around 3-4 weeks then we would review your progress as we go along.
I am scared of needles what do I do?
We can take our time and I am very gentle with patients, we can do breathing exercises to aid in the relaxation. Generally I don’t have an issue with patients and they find it extremely relaxing!
